Nauseda again becomes the President of Lithuania

Incumbent President Gitanas Nauseida was once again elected President of Lithuania by defeating Ingrida Simonytė in the election. Nauseda received 74.43 percent of the votes, while Simonyte came in second place with 24.06 percent.

“The people of Lithuania have expressed confidence in me,” Nauseida told the Baltic News Service (BNS) in Vilnius. I will cherish their trust. With this victory, Nauseida will once again remain the President of Lithuania for five years.

Current Prime Minister Simonyte has accepted his defeat and congratulated Nausida on his victory. Earlier in the elections held on May 12, no candidate had got more than half the votes in the first round. After this, voting was conducted again.
