Eight persons were detained by Noida Police after a car with more than Rs 2 crore in cash was found abandoned in Sector 58 on Thursday night. According to authorities, the money has been confiscated with the intent to be used for hawala transactions.

The individuals detained have been identified as being from Ahmedabad: Jayanti Bhai; Delhi: Sandip Sharma; Delhi: Vinay Kumar; North West Bengal: Abhijeet Hazra; Noida: Rohit Jain; Delhi: Vipul; Mumbai: Minesh Shah; and Indore: Anuj.

The representatives from the Income Tax Department arrived at the scene shortly after the police had recovered the object."2 crore rupees were reportedly seized for the hawala network. All those who have been apprehended are currently being questioned, "police reported.
