On the World Social Work Day, 16 Mar 2021 which is held on the third Tuesday of March every year, UGC's-Centre of Advanced Studies in Social Work, University of Lucknow organized various programmes and activities on the theme UBUNTU- "I am because we are - Strengthening Social Solidarity and Global Connectedness". The event started with the rangoli making competition followed by the slogan making, poster making and extempore.
After the ceremonial lighting of the auspicious traditional lamp and welcome of the dignitaries, Prof D.K Singh, former Head of the Social Work Department gave the welcome address. In his riveting address about the World Social Work day, Prof A.K Bhartiya , Head of the Social Work Department, admired the spirit of participation exhibited by the students.
The Chief Guest Prof. Brijesh Kumar Shukla, a Padamshree awardee and Dean Faculty of Arts expressed his gratitude. Professor Shukla focused in his speech towards the message hidden in the World Social Work Day as 'Ekta ka Sandesh' and hoped that the people of the society will move towards inclusion.
The special guest Prof Raj Kumar Singh, former Pro-vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow graced the occasion with his presence. The guest of Honor Shri Sharaf Abbas Khan, Chief Executive, Social Consultancy Services shared his life experiences and inspired the audience with his work towards the more professional outlook to the social work fraternity.
The event was followed by the prize distribution ceremony. The winners were awarded with the certificates and medals. Around 121 certificates were distributed to the students of the social work department who participated in the event. In rangoli making the team of Devika Tripathi, Shivangi Trivedi, Mridulika Sharma and Anamika Bajpai won the first prize . Tejashwi Sharma, Tamanna Singh,Puja Agnihotri and Jansvi won the second prize and the team to won the third prize was Anshshika Kanojiya, Nikita Yadav, Abhijeet Kushwaha and Vaishali. In slogan making Akanksha Singh , Abhishek Pandey and Hareem Fatima Nomani won the first, second and third prize respectively. Lubna Khan won the first prize in poster making while Roshni Yadav and Shivam Yadav secured the second and third positions. Pooja Agnihotri, Pakshalika Mansingh and Aditya Sinha batched the first, second and third prize in extempore. The event was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Garima Singh, Assistant Professor, University of Lucknow.
