Heritage of Jaipur city is an example of human talent and diversity

Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay today dedicated the certificate regarding the inclusion of walled city of Jaipur in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites to the people. She handed over the certificate to Urban Development Minister of the state Shanti Dhariwal.

Addressing the function held at Albert Hall in Pink City, Ms. Azoulay said, the heritage of Jaipur city is a unique example of human talent and diversity. She said that Rajasthan and Jaipur are famous not only for its architecture, but also for different identities such as diversity, culture, handicrafts and jewellery.

She said that world heritage sites are also for the coming generations of the whole world. Ms. Azoulay said that this city is truly a treasure in terms of heritage, its importance is worldwide, due to which it has been ranked in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The preciousness of this city gives an important message to the world. Addressing the program, Urban Development Minister Shanti Dhariwal said that the State government has made several efforts to save the heritage of Jaipur.

Earlier today, Ms. Azoulay visited many sites of tourist and historical importance. UNESCO declared the Walled City of Jaipur world heritage site in July last year which is famous for its grid plan-based architecture and buildings constructed with the pink façade. The International Council on Monuments and Sites had earlier inspected the city in 2018 after its nomination.(COURTSEY RITAM )
