Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, has said that the number of All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has increased from six to 23, creating a strong network of world-class healthcare institutions across the country.

Addressing a convocation ceremony at an educational institution in Faridabad, he added that India has made notable progress across key health indicators, including maternal and child health, as well as communicable and non-communicable diseases. Referring to tuberculosis control in the country, the Minister noted that the World Health Organization has lauded India’s progress, with TB notifications rising substantially and the rate of decline being twice the global average. Mr Nadda urged the graduating students to move forward with strong values, ethical conduct, and a deep commitment to public service.

He said the graduating cohort is privileged to begin their professional journey during the second phase of Amrit Kaal, leading up to the year 2047. He emphasised that while this period offers immense opportunities, it also brings significant responsibilities, calling upon the youth to contribute meaningfully to national development.
