Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, is currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, attending the ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Margherita held a bilateral discussion with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn. The two leaders discussed a range of topics concerning multifaceted bilateral relations, including heritage conservation and development partnership. Margherita also referred to his recent visit to Phnom Penh, highlighting several productive engagements and expressing gratitude to Cambodia for its support in India’s fight against terrorism.
Earlier, the Minister met the Secretary General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn. In a post shared on social media platform X, Margherita stated,
"Had a very cordial meeting with Secretary General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today on the margin of the ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Appreciated his personal commitment as the head of the ASEAN Secretariat in facilitating implementation of decisions of leaders towards strengthening our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership."
During his visit, Margherita also held meetings with Vietnam’s Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Sugiono. Sharing updates on X, he said,
"Pleased to meet FM Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam today, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia."
In another post, he added,
"Glad to meet Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Indonesia on the sidelines of ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Exchanged views on issues of mutual interest."
