PM Modi will introduce E20 petrol
During this, PM Modi will launch E20 petrol with 20% ethanol blend. E20 petrol will be sold in 11 states and union territories. The government has set a target of selling only E20 petrol till 2025. Along with this, a special dress 'Unbottled' made for the employees posted at PM Petrol Pump will also be launched. Indian Oil has prepared this dress by recycling plastic bottles.
What is E20 Petrol
Flex fuel consists of a mixture of ethanol and petrol in a certain ratio. It can be used in blends ranging from 80% petrol with 20% ethanol to 15% petrol with 85% ethanol. The 11 states and UTs where this biofuel will be available include Delhi, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Daman Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
There are not many cars on Indian roads that can run on E20 petrol-ethanol fuel. As of now, the Creta, Venue and Elsewhere SUVs from Hyundai Motors are the only vehicles that can run on the E20 petrol mix. At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Motors launched two of its new turbocharged petrol engines.
Tata had said that its Harrier and Safari SUVs will soon get E20 fueled engines. By April 2023, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Kia and other brands are also going to produce vehicles with flex fuel engines.
