At present, due to the bad weather, the schools up to class 12 in most of the districts have been closed by the government till January 7.

The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 19.0 degrees Celsius in Basti. Kanpur had the coldest night. A minimum temperature of 3.6 degrees Celsius has been recorded here.

Red alert for these districts Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, and Shravasti. Apart from this, Sultanpur, Ayodhya, Ambedkar Nagar, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal, Badaun, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Lalitpur and Jhansi may also experience severe cold in the next few days.
