Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday that Indian security agencies have been successful in establishing their supremacy and now no one can ignore the country in any field or stop it from moving forward. Addressing the inaugural session of the three-day conference of DGPs and IGPs, he said that India is now definitely safe, strong, and in good condition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a release that Prime Minister Modi will participate in the All-India Conference of Directors General of Police (DGPs) and Inspectors General of Police (IGPs) being held at the National Agricultural Science Complex. It states, "The Prime Minister has taken a keen interest in the DGP conference since 2014. In contrast to the token presence of earlier prime ministers, he attends all key sessions of the conference.
The PMO said in the release that the Prime Minister not only listens to all things patiently but also encourages free and informal discussions so that new ideas can emerge. It states that it provides a congenial environment for the country's top police officers to brief the prime minister directly on key policing and internal security issues and make open and clear recommendations.
On the first day of the conference, the Home Minister also distributed Police Medals for Meritorious Service and presented trophies to the top three police stations in the country. Officials said topics such as security challenges along the land borders with Nepal and Myanmar, identifying foreigners living in India for a long time, and targeting Maoist strongholds were discussed.
Shah said, "Indian security agencies have been successful in establishing their supremacy under the leadership of Modi. Today, no one can ignore India in any field, nor can anyone stop you from moving forward.
On the upcoming G20 meetings and summits, the Home Minister said that everyone knows that India is chairing the G20 and the Prime Minister has made a unique effort to select 56 cities to host more than 200 G20 meetings. On the Kashmir issue, Shah said, "There has been a drastic reduction in terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir." He said that the number of tourists visiting the union territory is 1.80 crore, which shows that the whole country is convinced that the atmosphere of peace is returning in the region.
