The Supreme Court Collegium urges the transfer of 3 HC judges and 2 HC Chief Justices

Two High Court Chief Justices and three judges have been recommended for transfer by the Supreme Court Collegium, while three further judges have been nominated for promotion.

The choice was made on September 28 during a Collegium meeting presided over by Justice of India UU Lalit.

The Collegium proposed moving Chief Justices Pankaj Mithal of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to the Rajasthan High Court and S Muralidhar of the Orissa High Court to the Madras High Court.

In 2006, Justice Muralidhar was chosen to serve as a member of the Delhi High Court. In 2020, he was moved to the Punjab and Haryana High Court. On January 4, 2021, he was promoted and appointed Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court.

In 2006, Justice Mittal was added to the Allahabad High Court as a judge, and in 2008, he was given permanent status. In December 2020, he was chosen to serve as the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court's Chief Justice.

The Collegium also advocated for Justice Jaswant Singh to be promoted as Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court. Prior to his 2021 move to the Orissa High Court, Justice Singh was raised to the bench in 2007 as a judge in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The elevation of Justice PB Varale of the Bombay High Court to Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court has also been recommended by the Collegium. The Bombay High Court's senior judge is Justice Varale. On July 18, 2008, he was chosen to serve as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

In a statement released on September 30, the Supreme Court Collegium indicated that it has recommended Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey be elevated to the position of Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. In March 2013, Justice Magrey was chosen to serve as a judge on the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

Three High Court justices should be moved to separate High Courts, according to the Collegium's recommendation.

The senior-most judge in the High Court, Justice Sanjaya Kumar Mishra of the Uttarakhand High Court, has now been moved to the Jharkhand High Court.

The senior-most judge in the High Court, Justice K Vinod Chandran, of the Kerala High Court, has been moved to the Bombay High Court. On June 24, 2013, he was appointed a permanent judge.The senior-most judge in the High Court, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh of the Jharkhand High Court, has been moved to the Tripura High Court.
