The Himalayan Terai states of Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura may witness fog in the coming week. In the forecast released on December 18, the Meteorological Department told that an outbreak of cold waves can be seen in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Western Haryana, and North Rajasthan today. Today it is expected to be foggy in Himachal, Punjab, and Tripura.

In the next 72 hours, the minimum temperature in the state may drop by 2 to 3 degrees. The bone-chilling cold has also been predicted in MP, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand from 25 December.
