Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju: The matter of the ban imposed by the government on BBC's documentary on the Gujarat riots of 2002 has reached the Supreme Court. Recently, the documentary was banned, for which a petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to remove it. Although the screening of this documentary has been done in many big universities in the country.

It is a waste of Supreme Court's time

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju's response to the petition to lift the ban on the BBC documentary. Kiren Rijiju tweeted on Monday without naming anyone regarding the petition filed in the Supreme Court, "This is how they waste the precious time of the Supreme Court, where thousands of common citizens are waiting for justice and demanding dates."

Big lawyers filed the petition

Advocate ML Sharma put the matter of the government's ban on BBC's documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots in the Supreme Court. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud talked about the hearing on 6 February. The issue of deleting the tweets of people like N Ram, Prashant Bhushan and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra regarding the documentary has also come up in the court. The Chief Justice has assured a hearing on this as well.
