Congress MP Santokh Singh passed away, was walking with Rahul Gandhi in Bharat Jodo Yatra

Congress MP from Jalandhar, Punjab, Chaudhary Santokh Singh has passed away today. He had participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra when he suddenly fell ill. In a hurry, he was taken to Virk Hospital in Phagwara. He died here. He was walking with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi when his heart rate increased.

As soon as the condition of Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary worsened, Rahul Gandhi stopped the Bharat Jodo Yatra and he was immediately taken to Phagwara's Virk Hospital in an ambulance, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Rahul Gandhi's journey started from Lodowal in Ludhiana at 7 am today. The Yatra was to reach Goraya in Jalandhar at 10 am, where the yatra would resume for lunch and stop at Phagwara bus station at 6 pm. Today the night rest of the yatra was at Mehat village near Konika resort in Kapurthala.

The yatra has been stopped after the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chowdhary at around 9.30 am today. There is news that Bharat Jodo Yatra has been postponed for today.

Mallikarjun Kharge expressed grief

On the death of the Congress MP, party president Mallikarjun Kharge said that he was deeply saddened. Kharge wrote, "Deeply shocked and saddened to learn about the untimely demise of our MP Shri Santokh Singh Choudhary. His passing is a big blow to the party and the organization. I am with his family, friends, and followers in this hour of grief.". May his soul rest in peace."

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann expressed grief

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has expressed grief over the demise of the Congress MP from Jalandhar. He tweeted and wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Santokh Singh Chowdhary, Congress MP from Jalandhar. May his soul rest in peace."

Former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder expressed grief

Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh also expressed grief over the demise of Santokh Singh Chaudhary.
