Faridabad (Haryana): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the ruling party at the Center can hold as many public meetings as it wants in other parts of India, but it sees Covid only there. From where 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is passing.
Gandhi also targeted the government on Thursday, saying it was looking for "pretexts" to stop the yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. The yatra is currently in Haryana and will enter the national capital Delhi on Saturday.
Addressing a public meeting on Friday evening, Gandhi said, "Now, the (Union) Health Minister is writing me a letter that Kovid is back, stop the journey. In the rest of India, BJP can do as many public meetings as it wants, but where 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is going on, there is Corona and covid.
Earlier this week, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote to Gandhi requesting him to consider postponing the yatra if Covid protocols could not be followed.
Targeting the BJP, Gandhi said that a select few are spreading hatred and they want to instill fear in the hearts of farmers and youth. He said, "But the common people of India, including farmers and youth, are speaking the language of love and are walking together.
He said that 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' is against unemployment, inflation, fear, and hatred.
He said the policies of the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government were pro-people and pro-poor, but the BJP government's policies like demonetization and 'wrong GST' spread fear. He said that Bharat Jodo Yatra is against unemployment, inflation and fear, and hatred.
This journey from Kanyakumari to Kashmir started on September 7 and till now this journey has passed through Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan and at present, it is passing through Haryana.
Gandhi referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "Congress-mukt Bharat" slogan in the 2014 and 2019 parliamentary elections and said, "Congress is not an organization, not a political organization, but a way of thinking, It's a way of life. On one side there is the RSS and the BJP and on the other the Congress party."
Gandhi said, "BJP and RSS are the markets of hatred, Congress's shop of love is in the same market of hatred."
Referring to his visit, he said that it has received huge public support. He said, "The whole country has seen that this man (Rahul) only loves his country, farmers, workers, and peasants."
He said, "They (BJP-RSS) worked to divide India and spread hatred. Before starting with Kanyakumari, I thought that there is hatred in the whole country. I was scared. But when I started, I realized one thing, people don't want hate, they just want love.
Gandhi said, "There is India, there is love in this yatra and when the yatra reaches Srinagar, we will unfurl the tricolor there."
Gandhi said highly educated youth are unemployed today, including many engineering graduates who are selling "pakodas" or driving taxis.
