Mumbai police detain a suspect in the murder of a live-in partner in Delhi

A man who allegedly killed his 28-year-old live-in partner, chopped up her body into 35 pieces, and dumped them at various locations in and around the national capital has been nabbed by Delhi police after a six-month investigation into a blind murder case.

According to the police, the suspect, named as Mumbai resident Aftab Amin Poonawalla (28), was apprehended on Saturday as a result of the deceased's father's complaint and has been placed in police remand for five days.

According to officials, the victim, Shraddha Walker, 27, of Mumbai met the defendant while working at a contact centre there.

The suspect is suspected of chopping the victim's body into 35 pieces and storing them inside a refrigerator. After that, sources said, he began scattering the body parts throughout Delhi and the surrounding area during the night for the following 18 days.

The victim's friend told the victim's family in September that Shradhha had cut off touch with her for the previous two and a half months and that her cell phone had also been turned off.
