Nipah Virus Confirmed Again in Kerala: 42-Year-Old Woman Tests Positive in Malappuram, KERALA

A fresh case of Nipah virus has been confirmed in Kerala, with a 42-year-old woman from Valanchery in Malappuram district testing positive. The diagnosis was confirmed following lab results from the National Institute of Virology in Pune.

The patient is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Perinthalmanna. Health Minister Veena George stated that precautionary measures were already in place when the case was suspected and that containment efforts have now been intensified. A high-level review meeting was convened at the Malappuram Collectorate under the minister’s leadership to assess the situation and coordinate response strategies. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and adhere to health advisories to prevent further spread of the virus.
