The Thiruvananthapuram–Mangaluru Vande Bharat Express has been upgraded from 8 to 16 coaches, starting from this evening. This move comes in response to high passenger demand and consistent full bookings since its launch. With the addition, the total seating capacity has increased by approximately 700, significantly improving travel convenience for passengers across Kerala and Karnataka.
Earlier, the train had only 8 coaches (1 Executive Chair Car and 7 Chair Cars), offering around 530 seats. Now, with 16 coaches (2 Executive Chair Cars and 14 Chair Cars), the train accommodates over 1,100 passengers. While the route includes major stations such as Ernakulam and Kasaragod, there is speculation about extending or rerouting services via Alappuzha in the future, though no official confirmation has been made. This is Kerala’s second Vande Bharat Express and continues to witness high demand, marking a major step in improving regional rail connectivity.
