LU: First session of Two day International Conference
X

The Department of Physics is organizing a two day International Conference on Diverse Emerging Materials and their Applications on the occasion of birthday of great physicist Prof. Albert Einstein. The international conference included more than 170 participants from various national and foreign Universities.

Prof. Poonam Tandon and chairperson of the conference told that in today's brain storming sessions the distinguished speakers from various states of India presented their recent research work. In the Keynote Address, Prof. Prafulla Kumar Jha from the MS University Baroda emphasized on various aspects of thermoelectric materials and their usage in conversion waste dissipated thermal energy into electrical energy. Prof. A.K. Rai from University of Allahabad vividly described about his indigenously made laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) set up which was used in Chandrayan-2 mission to trace the geological conditions and also about the use of LIBS in the identification of fake medicine and adulteration of milk (buffalo, cow, goats), tracing out the various undesirous chemical elements present in the commercially available turmeric powder. Prof. R.N. Rai from BHU narrated about the single crystal growth of various nonlinear materials for nonlinear optical devices and terahertz generation of waves.

Prof. Tejender Thakur from Central Drug Research Institute- CSIR has thrown light on the development of single and multicomponent solid materials for pharmaceutical applications. In the next session Prof. Anchal Srivastava from BHU focussed on astonishing journey from one dimensional nanotubes to two dimensional graphenes. Dr. B.K. Gupta from National Physical Laboratory has described about his indigenous development of security pigment based on luminescent materials which is an urgent need of the hour to protect our currency, passport and many important documents. Three best poster awards are also given to the young researchers amongst eighty poster presentations for encouraging their enthusiastic participation.
