On the occasion of Buddha Purnima LU planted the trees related to his life in Buddha Vatika....

The Buddha Vatika (planting of trees associated with the life of Lord Buddha)

Plantation of trees related to life of Lord Gautam Buddha. He was born in a shadow of shala tree. He took the first samadhi under a jamun tree. Gained knowledge in the shade of Peepal tree and Mahanirvana under the shade of sal tree. His entire life was spent in connection with trees. Peepal is also called Bodhi tree because by meditating in the shadow of this tree, Lord Buddha received enlightenment in the night of Baisakh Purnima. In Hindu belief, this tree is considered as the form of Lord Vishnu.

During his lifetime, Lord Buddha resided mostly in the shadow of the banyan tree. He was born on Baisakh Purnima in Sal forest of Lumbini. Most of his life was spent in the forest. He gave up his life in the shade of a sal tree. The Jamun is the tree under which shade he meditated first time. He spent a lot of time in meditation under Khirni trees and there are also instances of preaching under Pakar tree. On the occasion of Buddha Purnima on the day of May 26, 2021, the day Lord Budhha was born, a Buddha garden was constructed in the Kailash hostel of Lucknow University.

Peepal, Banyan, Khirni, Pakad and Jamun trees were planted by Prof. Alok Kumar Rai, Vice Chancellor. The students living in the hostel will visit the garden, then they will learn about the life of Lord Buddha and their attention will be focused on the teachings given by Lord Buddha. Traditional trees of India will also be protected by this garden and the tree revolution will be initiated. Trees are an important part of our life, their preservation is very important.
