The Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor with a focus on race and cinema, television, or media in theUnited States, in any of the following specializations, including but not restricted to, African-American, Latinx, Native American, or Asian-Pacific-American cinema and media. We also welcome scholars working comparatively across these specializations, as well as those who combine the study of U.S race and media with transnational or intersectional approaches. The start date of this position is September 16, 2021.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in cinema or media studies or in a related field (such as Communications, American studies, Ethnic Studies, Literary Studies, or Visual Studies), and

demonstrate facility in historical, theoretical, and humanistic approaches.
