Amarnath Yatra crosses 4.35 lakh pilgrims

The annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is continuing smoothly despite intermittent rains, with adequate security and logistical arrangements in place across the pilgrimage route.

Around 9,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine on Tuesday, taking the cumulative number of devotees who have undertaken the pilgrimage so far to around 4.35 lakh.

Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 2,051 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu early Wednesday under multi-layer security arrangements.

According to the Joint Police Control Room, the 22nd batch departed at 2:45 a.m. in a convoy of 82 vehicles via the Baltal route.

The batch comprises 1,570 men, 369 women, two children, 58 sadhus, 21 sadhvis, one sadhu child and 30 foreign pilgrims.

Authorities have maintained elaborate security, traffic management and other essential facilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage despite the prevailing weather conditions.
