After days of being battered by heavy rain that triggered waterlogging, traffic, and air and rail disruptions, a likely relief is in sight for Mumbaikars. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that rainfall intensity is expected to reduce in Mumbai from today (Thursday). However, the weather department has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, predicting heavy rainfall in some isolated places.
The IMD has also issued a red colour warning for extremely heavy rainfall over Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan, and Goa.
The weather agency has further forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over Chhattisgarh, Kerala, and Telangana.
IMD added that heavy rainfall is also expected to prevail over Northeast India, including Coastal Andhra Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Gilgit-Baltistan–Muzaffarabad.
The IMD also highlighted that the monsoon is likely to be in an active phase over the South Peninsular and adjoining Central India during the next three to four days.
