PM Modi Arrives in UK to Strengthen Bilateral Ties; Free Trade Agreement on the Agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reaching the United Kingdom on an official visit, today evening, to further strengthen the India-UK bilateral relations. Invited by his Britain counterpart, Mr Keir Starmer, both would also be likely to exchange views on issues of regional and global relevance. Speaking to Akashvani Correspondent in London, India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Mr. Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, said that the upcoming visit will be beneficial for both countries. He added that a future agreement on free trade may also be signed and that would have a positive impact on both economies. More from our Correspondent from London:


Calling it an ambitious document, Mr Doraiswami said that the Free Trade Agreement would build a new partnership more focussed on futuristic stuff.



He said Prime Minister Modi is so much committed to the relationship between both the countries and wants to take it forward.

On meeting with King Charles, Mr. Doraiswami said that Mr. Modi and the King has lot many things in common including holistic health and environment and will be meeting on July 24th.

The signing of the FTA would not only strengthen bilateral economic ties but may also serve as a major factor for India to have more such agreements with other developed countries in future.
