PM Modi will attend the All-India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police today
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to participate in the All-India Conference of Directors General of Police and Inspector Generals of Police at the National Agricultural Science Complex in the national capital today. The government informed us on Friday that the conference will be organized in a hybrid format. Around 100 invitees including DGPs of States and Union Territories and heads of Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organizations will physically participate in the conference, While the rest of the invitees will participate virtually from across the country.
Cybercrime to terrorism will be discussed in the conference
According to the information, several issues including cybercrime, technology in policing, counter-terrorism challenges, left-wing extremism, capacity building, and prison reforms will be discussed at the conference. The conference is the culmination of extensive deliberations involving police and intelligence officials at the district, state, and national levels on identified topics. The best practices of the States and Union Territories under each theme will also be presented at the conference so that the States can learn from each other. Since 2014, the Prime Minister has been taking a keen interest in the DGP Conference.
Prime Minister encouraged since 2014
The conference initiated a discussion on future topics in policing and security to develop the capability to not only ensure security in the present times but also to meet emerging issues and challenges. The Prime Minister has also encouraged the organization of annual DGP conferences across the country since 2014. The conference was held in Guwahati in 2014. Dhordo, Rann of Kutch in 2015, National Police Academy, Hyderabad in 2016, BSF Academy, Tekanpur in 2017, Kevadia in 2018, IISER, Pune in 2019 and Police Headquarters, Lucknow in 2021.
