Cannes Festival to Announce Top Honours

The 79th Cannes Film Festival concludes today with the announcement of winners, including the prestigious Palme d’Or.


May 23, New Delhi

— The 79th Cannes Film Festival will conclude on Saturday with the Closing Ceremony scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. local time in France, or 11:15 p.m. IST.

The festival jury, chaired by South Korean director, screenwriter and producer Park Chan-wook, will announce the winners from among the 22 films competing in the main competition section.

The awards to be presented include the Palme d’Or, Grand Prix, Jury Prize, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and Best Actor. The prestigious Palme d’Or will be presented by Scottish actress Tilda Swinton.

The films competing for the 2026 Palme d’Or include Amarga Navidad, Parallel Tales and Paper Tiger, among others.

The festival will also present the Short Film Palme d’Or and the Caméra d’Or, awarded to the best first feature film.

An Honorary Palme d’Or will be awarded to American artist Barbra Streisand. As Streisand will not attend the ceremony, French actress Isabelle Huppert will present the honour and pay tribute to her career.
