Trump to discuss TikTok Ownership Deal with Xi Jinping

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to discuss a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday regarding the ownership of the video-sharing app TikTok.

Speaking at a joint news conference at Chequers during his second state visit, President Trump said he would talk with Xi to see if they could finalize an agreement on TikTok. He highlighted how the app helped him get elected and assured that TikTok would be owned entirely by American investors.

Earlier this week, top officials from both countries reached a framework agreement that reportedly involves TikTok being owned by American investors and wealthy companies. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, China described the framework deal reached in Madrid to transfer TikTok’s ownership to U.S. control as a "win-win." China also said it would review TikTok’s technology exports and intellectual property licensing as part of the process.
