IMD issues orange alert for thundersquall conditions across several states

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thundersquall conditions over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for today.

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Kerala and Mahe for the next two to three days. The weather department has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Konkan, Goa, Lakshadweep, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh and the North Eastern Region till tomorrow.

The IMD has also predicted dust storms over West Rajasthan today. According to the Met Department, hot and humid conditions are likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till tomorrow.
