After getting permission for the puja in the basement of Vyas ji of Gyanvapi, the puja was performed at around 2 o'clock in the night, after which Varanasi has been transformed into a cantonment. To ensure that no untoward incident happens in Varanasi, the police is also on high alert and more than three thousand soldiers have been deployed. Anjuman Intejamia Mosque has announced closure on Jumma day (Friday) against the order of the District Judge for worship in Gyanvapi basement. Also appealed to the people to maintain peace and restraint.

Abdul Batin Nomani, General Secretary of Anjuman Intejamia Masjid, has issued a letter saying that there is resentment among Muslims over allowing worship in the southern basement of Gyanvapi.
