Mens Football Argentina qualifies for Paris 2024 Olympics

Brazil missed out on qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics after losing 1-0 to Argentina in their South American qualifier.

Brazil, who were bidding for a third consecutive Olympic men's football title, will miss the Olympic men's tournament for the first time since 2004.

Argentina won 1-0 with Luciano's goal in the 78th minute of the South American qualifier match on Sunday.

After losing their opening match to Paraguay in the four-team group, then beating Venezuela 2–1, Brazil needed a win or draw against Argentina in the last stage of qualifying to qualify for the Olympics. However, the team was not successful in this.

Argentina, who tied Venezuela and Paraguay, finished the final qualifying event with five points, while Brazil finished with three points.

Brazil won its first Olympic football gold medal with a decisive penalty kick by Neymar during a shootout against Germany at the Maracana Stadium at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Similarly, in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Brazil maintained its dominance by winning the final against Spain thanks to Malcolm's goal in the 108th minute.

Argentina won gold medals in 2004 (Athens) and 2008 (Beijing).
