Polling begins for third and final phase of Gram Panchayat elections in Telangana

In Telangana, the polling has begun for the third and final phase of Gram Panchayat elections for 3 thousand 752 sarpanch posts and 28 thousand 410 ward members across 31 districts in the state. Polling will continue till 1 PM.

Over 53 lakh voters will be casting their vote at 37 thousand 483 polling stations to decide the fate of 12 thousand 652 sarpanch candidates and over 75 thousand candidates who are in the fray for the ward members. A total of 394 Panchayats have been unanimously elected in the 3rd phase, while 7 thousand 908 wards were also elected unanimously. The counting of Votes will be taken up from 2 PM.

It may be recalled that ruling Congress-supported candidates won a maximum number of sarpanch posts in the 1st and 2nd Phases, while the BRS-backed candidates stood in second position and followed by the BJP.
