5 "helpers" of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists arrested in Jammu and Kashmir
Kupwara: Security forces have arrested five people who helped Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists. According to a press note by the Kashmir Police, the District Police Kupwara and the Army had received credible inputs from military intelligence and other intelligence agencies that a terror module of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) was active in the Kralpora area. This module is not only helping terrorists but also providing them safe haven as well as other logistics including arms and ammunition.
Based on this information, a joint team of police and the army arrested three associates of the terrorists. They have been identified as Rauf Malik, son of Mohammad Malik of the Kralpora area, Altaf Ahmad Payer, son of Qadir Payer, and Riyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Yusuf Lone.
During interrogation, the trio disclosed about two hideouts set up for Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists on the instructions of Pakistan-based terrorist handler Farooq Ahmed Peer alias Nadeem Usmani. After disclosure, 1 AK rifle, 2 AK magazines, 119 AK ammunition, 1 pistol, 1 pistol mag, 4 pistol rounds, 6 hand grenades, 1 IED, 2 detonators, 2 wire bundles, and about 100 liters capacity were recovered from their hideouts. A water tank has been recovered. He also told that Farooq Ahmed Peer currently lives in Kakrosa Kupwara located in PoK.
The three accused also received a cash amount of Rs 6 lakh in June 2022, which was for the construction of bases and the purchase of arms and ammunition. Out of this 6 lakh, Rs 64000 has also been recovered. He told that Majid Baig, son of Ghulam Mohammad Baig, a resident of Hamhama Budgam, and another from Bandipora were helping him in the work of terrorists. After this, the security forces also detained both of them for investigation. The terrorists' helpers were being controlled by another terrorist handler Fayaz Geelani from Budgam currently based in PoK.
