Ukraine received the first batch of French Mirage 2000 fighter jets as well as U.S.-made F-16 fighters on Thursday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the arrival of the jets as European allies seek to strengthen Kyiv's position in the conflict.

The fighter jets will now participate in defending the skies of Ukraine against Russian missiles and aircraft.

Ukraine has repeatedly pressed Western allies to supply it with increasingly advanced arms and ammunition, including armored vehicles, tanks, long-range missiles, and F-16 fighters, since the beginning of the conflict.
