CWG 2022: PV Sindhu defeats Michelle Li of Canada to win her first-ever Commonwealth Games singles gold medal

At the current Commonwealth Games 2022, ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu won India's first gold medal in badminton and the first women's singles gold medal of the gamesby defeating Michelle Li of Canada in the championship match on Monday.

Even though her opponent did a good job of competing, Sindhu was the match's dominant player. The Indian won the match by scores of 21-15, 21-13 in just two games.

PV Sindhu had a strong start. She had an 11–8 advantage midway through the opening game. Despite providing her Indian opponent with fierce competition, Michelle Li lost every rally.In the opening match, Sindhu prevailed 21–15.

Li had a strong opening to the second game. However, Sindhu quickly exploited the situation once more. Every time the Canadian made a mistake, Sindhu's lead grew more and more. At the halfway point of the second game, Sindhu had an advantage of 11-6. She needed 10 more points to win the first gold medal at CWG 2022. in badminton for India.

Following the break, play resumed more evenly, with both players scoring two points fast as a result of mistakes made by their rivals. A thrilling 57-shot rally between Sindhu and Li came to an end with the Indian losing a point. Li was gradually gaining the upper hand.while she was reducing the deficit, over Sindhu. In the end, Sindhu's advantage was cut to 13-11.

Through the second game, Sindhu fought hard and ultimately prevailed 21-13. With the victory, she also secured India's first-ever gold medal in badminton at the CWG 2022 as well as her first-ever medal in women's singles.
