World Laughter Day is internationally celebrated on the first Sunday in the month of May. This year, the special day will be celebrated on 2 May 2021. Each year people from around the world come together to discuss the benefits of laughter and share happy moments with their friends and loved ones. With the commencement of the second wave of Covid-19, the last few weeks have made people anxious for what lies ahead. The uncertainty and intense situation amid the pandemic has also had a negative impact on peoples' mental health.

This special day dates back to 1998, an Indian doctor Madan Kataria got inspired and start the Laughter Yoga movement to spread positivity. On World Laughter Day, people organise big events globally related to laughter, but this year the event will happen virtually. During a time when the bout of Covid-19 is compelling us to maintain social distancing and remain safe in the protective environment of our homes, don't forget to laugh, and stay positive. Laughter is an excellent way to battle this isolation or quarantine phase. As we celebrate World Laughter Day this year, let's pledge to laugh away to a healthy life and boost immunity through 15-30 minutes of laughter yoga.
