U.S. President Donald Trump announced an aerospace agreement between Qatar Airways and Boeing, stating that the $200 billion deal includes the purchase of 160 aircraft. The announcement was made during Trump’s visit to Doha, the second stop on his four-day tour of the Middle East.
Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al-Meer and Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg signed the agreement in the presence of the U.S. President and Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
The U.S. and Qatar also signed a series of defence cooperation agreements, including a $1 billion deal with Raytheon for Qatar's acquisition of counter-drone capabilities, and a nearly $2 billion agreement with General Atomics for the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft system.
Additionally, the two countries signed a statement of intent to further strengthen their security partnership, outlining over $38 billion in potential investments. These include support for burden-sharing at Al Udeid Air Base and future defence capabilities in air defence and maritime security.
