India will host the 28th ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Team Championships in Bhubaneswar from October 11 to 15. The announcement was made by the Table Tennis Federation of India yesterday and will feature men’s and women’s team competitions. It will also serve as a qualifier for the 2026 ITTF World Team Championships, with the top 13 teams from each category earning spots.

This is the first time Odisha is hosting an Asian-level table tennis event, although the state previously hosted the 2019 Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships. Bhubaneswar, having hosted several major sporting events in recent years, is also recognised as India’s sports capital. The championship will follow international standards, with ITTF-approved flooring and equipment. Top Asian teams like China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, along with emerging teams from South Asia and the Middle East, are expected to participate.
