Over 270 people have been rescued from Dharali, Uttarakhand following the devastating cloudburst that triggered massive flash floods and landslides in the area.
The rescue and relief operations in the affected areas are in full swing, being carried out with the help of the Army, NDRF, ITBP, SDRF, Uttarakhand Police, and local administration. Some of the people stranded during the disaster have been transported from Harshil to Jolly Grant Airport by Chinook. Indian Army dogs are being airlifted for disaster rescue. The work of opening closed roads is also going on continuously, and efforts are underway to normalize life.
The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall to continue over Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, the district administration of Uttarkashi has announced a holiday for all government and private schools and Anganwadi centres in the district in view of the prediction of heavy rainfall on Thursday.
