Delhi Weather Update: A thick blanket of fog enveloped North India including Delhi this morning. The movement of trains is being affected due to fog. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, foggy conditions prevailed across North India with low visibility in some parts of various states. Due to dense fog this morning Delhi recorded low visibility

The IMD recorded 'zero' visibility in Punjab's Bathinda at night on Sunday. Areas like Ambala, Hisar, Bahraich, and Gaya also witnessed fog and visibility dropped to 50 meters. According to the data, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh recorded 100 meters, while Palam recorded 400 meters.

On Saturday, the IMD predicted that cold waves and cold day conditions are likely to continue over northwest India during the next two days.

Hundreds of trains were canceled or delayed due to dense fog, according to the Ministry of Railways, Railway Ministry statement, 335 trains were delayed due to bad weather while 88 trains had to be canceled.

In view of the cold wave in the national capital, the winter vacation in private schools in Delhi has been extended till January 15, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued a revised notice regarding holidays in the schools of the state. According to the notice, all schools up to class 8 will remain closed till January 14. Online classes will be conducted for the students of classes 9 to 12. Similarly, the Jharkhand government on Sunday issued a notice to close both government and private schools in the state till January 14 for students of classes KG to 5.
