"Wear masks, increase testing and genome sequencing": PM Modi gave these instructions regarding Corona

PM Modi Meeting on Covid-19 Surge: The Central Government has given special guidelines regarding passengers coming from abroad to prevent infection with the new variant of Corona. A random sampling of passengers coming from abroad has been started at airports across the country.

New Delhi: Corona is again causing havoc in China. Four cases of the new sub-variant BF.7 of Corona's variant Omicron have been found in India as well. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting on Thursday. PM Modi attended the meeting virtually. The PM said, 'Corona is not over yet. Vigilance should be increased at the International Airport and other places. PM Modi also stressed on the need for stronger surveillance with a focus on increasing genome sequencing and testing. He has asked all the people to wear masks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a high-level meeting, "Be fully prepared for Covid." Corona is not over yet." He advised the states to conduct an audit to ensure the readiness of oxygen cylinders, PSA plants, ventilators, and infrastructure." In the meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Mansukh Mandavia, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, ICMR officials, Civil Aviation officials, VK Paul of NITI Aayog, and all other key stakeholders were present.PM Modi attended the meeting virtually.

The infection rate was reduced to 0.14 percent

The PMO said that during the meeting, a comprehensive presentation was made about the status of Kovid in the country and the global Kovid-19 situation. The Prime Minister was informed that in the week ending 22 December 2022, a steady decline in cases is being seen in India. The average daily cases have come down to 153 and the weekly infection rate has come down to 0.14 percent. However, for the last 6 weeks, a daily average of 5.9 lakh cases have been registered globally.

Health Minister also gave instructions

After a meeting called by Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday, the Center advised the use of masks and Covid-appropriate behavior, but there is no protocol for now. The government says that there is nothing to panic about, but people should wear masks in crowded areas.

The health minister said that surprise testing of international passengers has started today. The Center has asked states to step up genome sequencing and send samples of all Covid-positive cases to the labs of INSACOG, a forum under the health ministry, which studies and monitors various Covid strains.

The health minister said, "covid is not over yet. I have directed all concerned to be vigilant and strengthen surveillance. We are ready to deal with any situation."

How many cases of corona in the country?

129 fresh infection cases have been reported in the country in 24 hours and currently, the number of active cases is 3,408. There one death has been registered. With the country on alert for BF.7 cases in European countries like China, the USA, the UK, Belgium, Germany, France, and Denmark, various states are preparing their own Covid protocols.
