In the year 2020, University of Lucknow completed 100 years of its existence. There are many buildings in the university today which incorporate the history of this institute within itself. One of them is Lal Baradari standing at the center of the university. Lal Baradari has been kept vacant for the past several years due to its dilapidated condition and is surrounded by wire all around to avoid any possible accident.

In 2020, a committee was formed under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Rai, with the Head, Department of Ancient Indian History, Prof. Piyush Bhargava, Superintendent of Works, Dr. Durgesh Srivastava, Prof. Nishi Pandey, to work towards the maintenance, conservation and preservation of Lal Baradari.

In this context, the Chairman of the Committee Prof. Piyush Bhargava sent several letters requesting assistance to the Archaeological Survey of India, Uttar Pradesh State Archaeological Department for the conservation of Lal Baradari. Prof. Bhargava had urged all institutions to work towards the preservation of Lal Baradari, so that the building that stood witness to the history of Lucknow city and Lucknow University, can be saved. Prof. Bhargava said that efforts are being made to maintain / protect Baradari since 2010, but unfortunately no assistance has been received from anywhere.

Yesterday, on 2nd May 2021, a wall of the same Lal Baradari, which was already very damaged, collapsed. Citing the incident, the Registrar, Dr. Vinod Singh has immediately written to the Director General of Archeological Survey of India on 3rd May, 2021, urging immediate assistance to save Lal Baradari.
