University of Lucknow has refurbished the 'Poor Student Aid Fund' as "Chhatra Kalayan Nidhi
Continuing its time-honoured vow to student welfare and upgradation, University of Lucknow has refurbished the previously named 'Poor Student Aid Fund' as "Chhatra Kalayan Nidhi", an upgraded and more benevolent version. This integrates multiple student centric schemes for wider outreach and greater benefit to students of different strata.
After providing support to students under the Karmyogi scheme, University of Lucknow has effectively completed its second stage of student support measures by identifying students for financial support under the " Chhatra Kalyan Scheme ".
The scheme was initiated as University of Lucknow is aware and responsible to the fact that it is home to students from all walks of life. In respect of the bright but economically challenged students in the University, it is observed that they are facing challenges primarily related to the fees, food, accommodation, study, and health-related expenses.
In this scheme, students will get Rs 15,000 for an academic session. Eligibility criteria for this scheme are that the total income of his/her parents or guardians does not exceed Rs. 03 Lakh per annum, the student has passed with minimum of 60% marks in the previous examination, Students should have at least 75% attendance in the previous academic semester/year, and should not be receiving any kind of financial assistance including fellowship/scholarship.
Prof. Poonam Tandon, Dean Students Welfare informed that the University received 343 applications for this scheme. A total of 49 eligible students have been selected on a merit basis in their respective categories (under-graduate, post-graduate, and Ph.D.) across all the faculties of the University for Uniform Representation.
Hon'ble Vice Chancellor Prof Alok Kunar Rai conveyed his best wishes to all selected students and said that thus scheme will give a boost to the synergic bonding between the University and its students and unburden both students and parents.
The university hopes to continue to expand such student centric initiatives and strengthen its image as an academically sound, student supportive university globally, and be a popular destination for bright brains from all over India and abroad.
