2 women burnt alive in Agra: Cylinder caught fire while cooking; Preparations were going on for Tilak ceremony at home

Two women were burnt to death in Agra on Sunday after a cylinder caught fire. One person also got burnt in the accident. The Tilak ceremony was to be held in the house in 5 hours. Then the gas cylinder caught fire while cooking. Two women who had come to roll the poori with the confectioner were burnt alive. There was a scream in the house due to the accident. The incident was in the Sikandra police station area.

The son of Madan Kumar, a resident of Sunderban Colony, had a Tilak ceremony on Sunday. Preparations were going on in the house since morning. In the evening, the girls had to come to offer Tilak. The confectioners were preparing the food for the ceremony. Neighbors were cooking confectionery in Pankaj's house.

Suddenly the cylinder caught fire at 11.30 am. After that, strong flames started rising. The grip of which two women who were cutting vegetables came there. Both the women had come with confectioner Kailashi.


Neighbour Pankaj said that he was inside the house. When suddenly he heard screams, he came out of the house. He saw that there was a fire. Tried to extinguish the fire. By then the people around had also come. Informed the fire brigade over the phone. By the time the fire brigade team arrived, the villagers controlled the fire.

Pankaj said that Sheela and Meena who came with confectioner Kailashi were burnt alive. While confectioner Kailashi also got scorched. After getting the information, the police reached and got the confectioner admitted to the nearby hospital.


Preparations were going on for the son's tilak ceremony at Madan Kumar's house. The happiness of the family turned into sorrow due to the fire. Both women are said to be of old age. Station in-charge Sikandra Anand Kumar Shahi said that the fire broke out due to leakage in the cylinder. Two women have died due to this. Both had come with the confectioner to roll the pooris. The body has been sent for postmortem.
