Maheshwar Singh, a party renegade from Kullu, met with Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda on Thursday in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
In the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, the BJP has removed Maheshwar's ticket from Kullu Sadar and given it to the school lecturer instead.
Following the meeting, BJP rebel Maheshwar Singh spoke with the media and said, "The suggestion has been kept in front of me where I had a conversation with honourable Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and BJP National President JP Nadda."
He declined to comment when questioned about his younger son Hiteshwar Singh, who became rebellious and submitted paperwork to run for office as an independent.
"He is forcing me to remain silent. Nowadays, very few sons pay attention to their fathers once they get married. Naturally, I'm unable to comment on him "said he.
When asked if he would still run as an independent from Kullu Sadar, he responded, "I was turned down to run as an independent at my age.
I will make every effort to fight at the age of 73 if the workers press their case strongly enough. It is challenging.""I have no desire to argue. No matter what the employee wants, there are occasions when the employee also has to be heard. I'll do everything I can to convince them "Added he.
A descendant of the Kullu royal family, Maheshwar Singh, has previously been nominated by the BJP. After failing to persuade his son Hiteshwar Singh, who was eager to run on a BJP ticket from the Banjar assembly segment, to withdraw his nomination as an independent candidate, the BJP withdrew Maheshwar's candidacy.
The voting will take place on November 12 and the results will be tallied on December 8
