Expansion of existing airports and development of new airports will continue: Finance Minister
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in the interim budget presented that the expansion of existing airports and development of new airports will continue at a rapid pace. The Finance Minister said, in 10 years the aviation sector has boomed and the number of airports has doubled to 114.
He said, 517 new routes are carrying 1.3 crore passengers. Indian aviation companies have ordered more than 1,000 new aircraft. Expansion of existing airports and development of new airports will continue at a rapid pace.
Sitharaman said, we have a rapidly expanding middle class and rapid urbanization, Metro Rail and NaMo India can be the catalyst for the necessary urban transformation. The expansion of these systems in larger cities will be supported while focusing on transit-oriented development.
